The Variable Foundations series requires interactions by the viewer to be fully realized. The objects are perceived to be a sculpture of a potted plant, however upon further investigation, the viewer realizes that the forms are actually a hollow vessel when turned over. The vessel is a mug because at its core, a mug is a utilitarian object and meant to be interacted with. A mug is also an object that must expose the forms underside when in use. These forms are created without a perceivable bottom and intended to be turned over to illustrate how quickly our perceptions of realities can be turned upside down.
