The Bloom series is a visual translation of a variety of flowers from around the world. The works are meant to question their purpose. Each of these pieces is a functional vessel but the sculptural elements nearly obstruct the underlying form, thereby questioning the function. The questions of its function beg the viewer to ask, if a vessel does not hold anything, is it still a functional form? Or is it purely aesthetic? The work is a commentary on the role of a women’s body and the control that the outside world plays in the function of her form as a vessel.
